The Foles Monte Experience
Sunday is a big game. This maybe the biggest football game Philadelphia has had in the past couple of years. The hated Dallas Cowboys come to town for a game that will determine first place in the NFC East. The Cowboys come to Lincoln Financial Field, where the Eagles have not won a game in over a year—a 19-17 victory over the NY Giants on September 30th.
The good news is that the Dallas Cowboys give up the third most passing yards in the NFL, behind only the Broncos and the Eagles. Some may argue that Nick Foles being behind center is even better news. However, the best news of all may be that Monte Kiffin is the Defensive Coordinator for the Cowboys. That’s not good news because Kiffin is seventy-three years old. It’s good news because Nick Foles owns Monte Kiffin.
Nick Foles and the Arizona Wildcats faced USC twice with Monte Kiffin as Defensive Coordinator. The teams split the two games, but Nick Foles picked apart Monte’s defense. In those two games, Foles threw for 778 yards, 7 TDs, 2 INTs and averaged 12.35 yards per completion, connecting on three passes of over 25 yards including touchdowns of 31 yards and 27 yards.
Foles and company should have a good game through the air, particularly with the injuries on the Cowboys’ defensive line. Also worth noting is the fact that Chip Kelly’s Oregon Ducks averaged 50 points per game in the three games (53 points, 35, 62) against USC with Kiffin as Defensive Coordinator. All signs point to a big game from the Foles/Kelly led Eagles and me betting the over.
