Halloween Weekend Preview: 10/31-11/2

Halloween is here. Now I know many of you will have house parties or warehouse parties. I’m hoping I can stay up late enough to go to a warehouse party tonight. A nap may be in order.  I ain’t 21 anymore, yo.  If you don’t have any parties to go to, there’s still plenty to do this weekend.

Everyone’s favorite burlesque bar The Trestle Inn is having a Halloween Dance Party Friday from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.  Lexx & Argo Spinning Classic Latin & Brazilian Soul Special Guest DJ: Juanderful of Tropicalismo. Trestle Specials Guinevere Gunn & Lady Jade.

There’s also an all night Universal Cave dance party downstairs at Johnny Brenda’s.  This claims to be a hell bound trip into the outer reaches of terror with DJs Tripledouble, Billy W, Ryan T, Shawn Ryan & Brian Cassidy, 8pm-2am

The Thrill: A Soulidified Tribute to Michael Jackson’s Thriller is happening Friday at World Cafe Live.  Team Soulidified, The Dox and DJ Ambush, along with some really special guests show love to the late great Michael Jackson and his greatest master piece “Thriller”.

This is the last weekend for the Independence Beer Garden.  Put on a jacket and enjoy the pop-space right off of Market Street.  This last weekend of beer-fueled fun wraps with an Industry Night Closing Celebration on Sunday, November 2. The industry party, a monthly bash usually held at Marc Vetri’s Amis, is open to the public this Sunday to celebrate the garden’s wrap. The party promises eats from the IBG menu and from Vetri’s Italian bar Alla Spina, plus $2 drafts and $5 cans from 7 p.m. to midnight.

It’s the Day of the Dead weekend so The South Street Headhouse District is resurrecting their Day of the Dead Parade & Festival after a 10 year hiatus.  The parade starts at 2:00 at the Magic Gardens (1020 South Street) and goes down at the 400 block of South Street. There will be music, dance performances, face painting, art activities by Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, demonstrations from acclaimed Mexican artist Joel Garcia, and of course, food & drink.

That should be enough to keep you busy.  Maybe squeeze in a showing of John Wick.  I hear good things about it….and it’s got Johnny Utah in it…I mean Keanu Reeves!

For the betting folks, It’s Teaser Time.  We are currently 6-5 on the teaser tip.  This week in the NCAA tease Old Dominion from +7 to +13 vs. Vandy and tease Army from +3 to 9 vs. Air Force.

In the pros, we say tease the 49ers from -10 to -4 vs. the Ram and the Chargers from +1.5 to +7.5 vs. the Dolphins.

HAVE FUN. STAY SAFE.
