St. Tim Tebow Arrives

Today, the Eagles are expected to sign Tim Tebow. TebowMania has taken hold of Delaware Valley. I can’t help but sing the told T.O. (Terrell Owens) philly song as TEBOWWWWWWW, TEBOW, TEBOW, TEBOW, TEEEEEBOW, TEEEEEEBOW.

People hate or love this guy. Aside from the Jesus stuff, though, what’s to hate? Tebow should be a personality that resonates with Philadelphia, without the religious aspect. The guy works hard. He accomplished two National Championships and a Heisman Trophy with average quarterback skills. He’s a nose-to-the-grind hardworker. He’s reportedly a great teammate and a nice dude.

Tebow is only 27 years old. He’s got 29 touchdowns in 14 NFL starts. I found an article from last year on medium.com that does a nice job of listing Tebow’s accomplishments. Here’s a nice nugget. Tebow, at 27, has won more playoff games (1) than: Nick Foles, Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Neil Lomax, Steve Grogan, Bobby Hebert and a bunch of other guys.

The Eagles are giving Tebow zero guaranteed money. Matt Barkley looks like a bust. If Tebow can come in and earn a spot as the third string QB, good for him. I’ve seen what Mark Sanchez did in Chip Kelly’s system. He looked like a completely different QB than we saw from him in NY. If anyone can make Tebow productive, I think it’s going to be Chip Kelly. In Chip I trust.

Tebow isn’t a starter. He’s not gonna be the Eagles starter. He might be the 3rd string quarterback and, in my opinion, the Eagles could do and have done much worse in filling that position (Kafka). If he can’t make the team, nothing lost.

If you can’t get past the religious stuff on Tebow, I’ll ask you to play a little game called Who’s Tweet Is It?  Today’s edition will be between Tim Tebow and Brian Dawkins. Which one of those two players are the authors of the tweets below. The answers are at the bottom of the post, after the Tebow photo.

1. “The Lord is my strength & my shield; my heart trust in him and he helps me.”

2. “If I could bottle up what the Lord as well as trials and tribulations have given me…”

3. “Thank you. The Blessings keep flowing.”

4. “Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily from the soul as something done for the Lord and not for men.”

5. “May your choice reflect your hopes, not your fears. -Nelson Mandela”
