A Fan’s View: Eagles Saints Week 5
The Eagles got a win over the Saints. The Saints suck, but a win is a win. Maybe it’ll boost some confidence. Here’s a look back at the game and broadcast from this fan’s view.
-Is Tony Siragusa serious with the outfit he wore on the sidelines? Guy looks like a band Las Vegas lounge singer or a used copier salesman. Does he own a tie? Was he wearing a short sleeve shirt with a blazer? That’s one of the worst looks possible. Was the jacket Andre the Giants’? The sleeves came down way too far, almost to his knuckles.
–Josh Huff came out fired up on the first kickoff return and kept it going for most of the game.
–DeMarco Murray looks like he runs into tacklers or his blockers at the line. And, he’s not explosive. Are the holes not there? Is he missing the holes or hitting the wrong holes?
-4th and 7 and you go to Riley Cooper? Hard to believe it was converted. The pass wasn’t even close. The camera caught Bradford shaking his head confused like Cooper ran the wrong route.
–Bradford has been throwing behind receivers all season and it continued for the first half vs. the Saints.
-I’m kind of tired of flags being thrown and then the referees discussing it and deciding there was no foul on the play. Don’t throw the damn flag then. Is it that difficult?
-Eagles deployed the same defense that Pittsburgh used in week one on Gronkowski. It’s the one where the defense doesn’t cover a player up near the sidelines in the red zone. Hard to believe the receiver at the top of this photo scored! How does Billy Davis not see this and scream for a timeout from the sideline? Oh, wait, he can’t BECAUSE HE SITS UPSTAIRS!
–Charles Davis was solid in the booth as the analyst. Loved it when he called DeMeco Ryans oldhead.
-Call me oldhead, but I liked seeing more snaps from under center.
-Bradford got luck in the 2nd quarter with a pass interference call on a ball that he threw behind Nelson Agholor. If he let Agholor it would have been an easy completion. Instead Agholor had to move back towards the ball and that’s when contact was made with Breaux.
-Looked like Austin lost his footing on the second red zone interception. Breaux’s feet may have clipped Austin’s and that was the incidental contact that caused them not pick the flag up. Hard to know if that’s a well thrown ball if Austin didn’t trip.
-Who thought that a commercial implying chicken cannibalism for Burger King chicken fries would be a good idea? I know they’re trying to play off the female chicken dating a badboy who the parents don’t approve of, but spinning that into a chicken that likes to eat chickenn flavored fries? WEIRD.
-Hated the Huff somersault into the end zone. Act like ya been there before and get off my lawn. We don’t need ya dropping the ball or getting hurt with the ridiculous acrobatic flips.
–Maragos is my favorite special teams player since….Ike Reese?
-Fans brought it at The Linc. Sounded loud on TV!
-Who is the most annoying kid on TV these days? This Pizza Hut kid.
-Phil Miller and the Last Man on Earth commercial where he’s in a pool of nacho cheese was just stupid. Wish him and the pizza kid would disappear from the airwaves. It’s the dude from this commercial:
-Nice work by the Fox crew for avoiding the annoying cheesesteak shots and instead grabbing pictures of the LOVE statue, Liberty Bell, Boathouse Row, and especially the Palestra. Nice work by dropping the “Cathedral of College Basketball” moniker.
-Did you hear Siragusa use the word sidewards instead of sideways? Here it is if you missed it:
-Sam Bradford is crazy eyes in the picture they put up with his stats.
-Was Chip Kelly hocking up loogies or spitting out seeds?
-Grateful that FOX crapped out for a few seconds during halftime and not actual gameplay.
-How did they pick the flag up and say no pass interference on Vaccaro when he hit Sproles early on a 3rd down play??!! The shot is blurry but you can see that contact is made before the ball arrived.
-Didn’t want to rip the offensive line because they played well, but Tobin killed a Sproles TD by pushing his man, the last man, into Sproles.
-Hate it when people say PEEEENalized instead of penalized like this:
–Matthew McConaughey looks like a complete lunatic in the Gus Van Sant commercials with bad jazz music. Tagline is “Feeling that stays with you?” Is that feeling insanity? Would’ve been cooler if he won the card game with a bluff instead of a straight flush.
-We all check our phones during games, but checking it during a play at an NFL game? There’s plenty of time between plays and commercial breaks to check your phone and text message. During the 10 seconds of each play you gotta be watching, especially if you’re in the front row. Caught a person with a pink visor/hat just fixated on his/her phone during a play.
-What’s with everyone wearing towels on their head at the game? It wasn’t blazing hot sun like an August day. It was a perfect Fall day.
-The FOX crew was showing a picture of Kobe Byrant from the Palestra and a sweet shot of Rasheed Wallace in high school made it into the top right of the frame.
-Saints Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan would be the perfect person for a Pizza Hut commercial instead of all the thin, healthy looking people they use, no?
-Where did Willie Snead come from?
-I spy a Pope in the aisle between the uprights! How many Popes will be walking around the streets on Halloween?
–Marcus Smith sighting!!! Charles Davis had to hesitate and look at the roster for number 90 before announcing Smith’s name.
-This looked like a completely different offensive line. They were attacking the defense and getting into the right position. Kudos to them for a solid game.
E-A-G-L-E-S!
As always, thanks for reading and sharing.
