A Fan’s View: Eagles Cowboys Week 9
Eagles got a solid win over the Cowboys and referees Sunday night. If you were up to watch the entire game, you saw some pass interference shenanigans against Byron Maxwell.
Here’s this fan’s view of the broadcast and game:
-The Sunday Night Football crew started the night off with an early picture of an a**hole, Greg Hardy. Yeah, let’s put some warpaint on my face after the entire country saw the pictures of the physical abuse I inflicted on a woman. This guy doesn’t get it and shouldn’t be in the league.
-Hearing Al Michaels say the name Lucky Whitehead never gets old.
-Eagles receivers know that they are supposed to go past the first down sticks, right? There were at least 4 times when the receivers ran routes on 3rd down that were short of the sticks. WHY?
-On one of the 3rd downs, Bradford didn’t see an open Ertz straight ahead of him and went for a checkdown that was short of the first down.

–Jason Witten played with Aikman, no? Seriously, this dude just keeps playing and be effective. Gotta respect that.
-The Cowboys may have Darren McFadden and Lucky Whitehead, but Philly has the original McFadden and Whitehead. Their song Ain’t No Stopping Us Now was the theme song for the 1980 Phillies.
-Jordan Hicks is legit. Who’s the GM who drafted him? That would be Charles “Chip” Kelly.
–Big Balls Chip showed up by going for it on a couple of 4th downs. Nice to see him return.
–Cole Beasley is like Bill Bates reincarnated. If you aren’t old enough to know Bill Bates, he was an annoying white Cowboys safety from the 80’s. He’s was a pesky f*cker, who seemed to have some of his best games against the Eagles. The Cowboys-Annoying-White-Dude torched has been successfully based onto Beasley.
-Does NBC have to continually remind us that Gwen Stefani is dating Blake Shelton? Dude is weak. She’s lost any pseudo punk cred she may have had with this relationship.
–Ed Hochuli needs to slim down. He’s a bit too buff and his shirts are too tight. If you’re a referee and you’re more jacked than some players, you may have an issue.
-Philadelphia Eagles fans, your quarterback is apparently Lerch.
-Remember Jake Diekman? He tweeted this out after the first Dallas TD scoring drive.
How bout' them Cowboys

-No sign of Chris Christie in JJ’s box. I guess once Jones got that NJ Port Authority contract, he didn’t need to schmooze CC any longer.
–Sanchez’s hair was on fleek last night.
–Ray Liotta is in a TV show with Jennifer Lopez? What happened to Ray? He used to be bad ass. There was also a building in Dallas lit Eagles green in one of the promo shots.
-Of course, Eskin was on the sidelines. He had coordinated purple tie and headphones. Purple is the color for raising awareness of domestic abuse. Nice work by Eskin.
-I don’t think I ever saw Jerry Jones’ wife before. Was she wearing sunglasses in the stadium?
-NBC missed a punt at the end of the second quarter. Felt like they went to commercial every other play last night.
-I am not the biggest Cris Collinsworth fan, but I like him a lot more after last night’s game. He took a stand against Greg Hardy at halftime and it was refreshing to hear. If you missed it, here is what Collinsworth said:
Let’s hope Greg Hardy is not a leader in anything in our country right now…I think it’s time to take this out of the realm of collective bargaining, just once, just once I’d like to see the NFL players bond together and say we’re gonna do something about this. These big, strong NFL players are gonna take a stand and say enough, no more, not on our watch it’s not gonna happen. And if you’re gonna be stepping into that world as a player, we want the punishments to be harsh, we don’t want there to be these grand appeals, we want to make sure that the NFL and our players stand for something better than what Greg Hardy was a part of.
-The biggest play of the game may have been Sean Lee getting injured. The Cowboys defense isn’t nearly the same and the Eagles seemed to run the ball at will without Lee on the field.
-I’m a Jerry Rice fan. He’s the greatest receiver ever. McDonald’s is causing me to build a slight dislike for the legend with these Game Time Gold commercials. They’re not funny and placed far too often. Pretty sure that’s Scottie Graham doing the voiceover for those commercials, too.
-Not much anyone can do about this. It’s just Dez being Dez.
–Connor Barwin was geeked up after Ertz’s great catch along the sideline.
–Caleb Sturgis is a beast, we all knew it all along, right? #NeverADoubt
–Worst image of the night, aside from seeing Tony Romo’s face and Matt Cassell’s moustache:
-Thanks to Chris Maragos for knowing Tails Never Fails and winning the Overtime coin flip.
-Please let this be the end of Bradford and Jordan Matthews struggles. This game should’ve been the confidence boost needed.
-Props to the Offensive Line who were banged up and did a solid job throughout the night.
