This Dog Jawn is Sweet

Big cities all across the US struggle with homeless dog and cat populations. Philly is no different. The Philadelphia Animal Control Shelter (ACCT) takes in upwards of 30,000 animals a year. That’s about 80 animals EVERY DAY. While ACCT has been making progress saving way more lives than are euthanized, we, as a city, can do better.

Great organizations like PAWS, S.T.A.R.S., S.P.C.A., City Kitties, and countless others have helped ease the burden. By the way, those great organizations always need foster parents, volunteers, and cash. As an experienced volunteer at Philly ACCT, I can tell you few activities are as rewarding.

What can the citizens of Philly do to contribute? The two easiest things are spay and neuter your pets and adopt instead of buying from breeders and stores.

Earlier this year, the people at the Oaktown S.P.C.A. in Oakland did a video to bring home the point. Yo, Philly animal peeps, it might be time for a video of our own.
