RANT: RESIDENTIAL AREA SIGNS
Saw these signs in and around the South Street area while checking out the new Milkboy location at 4th and South Streets.
This sign was on American Street, a tiny street between 2nd and 3rd. This is how far the sign is posted from South Street.
That’s like a half-block. Are they f**king serious? Who paid for these signs and their installation? Refrain from loud noises, disturbances & littering.
You live a half block or block of South Street. South Street didn’t recently become a place where people flock to in order to loiter, shop, eat, and drink. This has been going on for decades.
If you don’t want to hear loud noises, disturbances or see littering, how about NOT LIVING A BLOCK FROM SOUTH STREET?!
Seriously, did you think it would be quiet and quaint a 1/2 block or block from one of the top ten party streets in the state of Pennsylvania? You can’t be that stupid if you can afford a mortgage or rent in Queen Village or Society Hill. Perhaps you’re naive. Naive enough to believe a sign like this would have any impact.
Like someone is drunk and singing or screaming and they’re gonna see this sign and be quiet. Or, they’re gonna be fighting on the street, see the sign, and take it to Columbus Avenue so they don’t disturb the people behind the placing of the signs.
People know it’s a residential area, they see the houses.
This has to be one of the bigger wastes of energy, time, and a little cash I’ve seen since reading that Michael Nutter spent like $50K to go to Rome.
I know this particular block has had some recent incidents, even a couple involving guns. It’s also a dark street that people venture down to smoke weed and urinate. Why? Because it’s dark. Put up some more lights. Get the neighbors and landlords to put external lights on their facades and make sure they turn them on. Duh!
It’s not just this block. They are throughout the Queen Village neighborhood. Here is another one on 8th Street a 1/2 block off South Street.
That’s South Street a 1/2 block north on 8th Street.
Again, if you don’t want the noise and trash don’t live near South Street. Seems pretty simple.
Rant over.
