Gallery Renovations Look Eerily Post-Apocalyptic
I got a chance to walk past The Gallery building at 8th & Market yesterday as I went to argue two tickets with the PPA. Took time off work, rode my bike up only to find out at the power was down at the PPA and I need to come back next Wednesday. I hope they are as understanding with me as I was with them today. Ha!
Anyways, renovations are underway at The Gallery. I’m still not sure what’s going there. I think the casino idea is dead and now it’s gonna be a bunch of outlet stores.
Whether you loved or hated The Gallery, you surely have a heart-warming memory or two of the place. The current state was kind of depressing for me.
My grandmother worked at the old Strawbridges. I’d meet her around this time of year and she’d take me back to school shopping in The Gallery. Good times.
The view now is a little depressing. The inside of the building looks like footage from Baghdad or the set of The Walking Dead. In one shot, there is a lone construction worker. He looked like a lone survivor in a Post-apocalyptic world searching for other humans in the rubble.
