GET YOUR ASS TO THE SOUTH STREET FESTIVAL
Clear your schedules. Drop off the kids with their grandparents. Holy hell. Saturday, May 5, 2018 is jam-packed in Philly. It’s Kentucky Derby day. The 76ers play at 5. It’s Cinco De Mayo. AND…it’s the South Street Festival.
The weather should be 75 degrees with a bit of overcast, but that’s damn near perfect weather to enjoy the best block party of the Spring season, the South Street Festival. The temperature will be comfortable and there shouldn’t be too much sun for all you pale jawns.
South Street will be closed from Front to 8th Street and spilling into Headhouse Square so you have 10 blocks of street fun. There is a Philly Taco eating contest. 3 stages of live bands. Brauhaus Schmitz does it’s annual Maifest event with authentic German food, beer, music, dancing.
Over 30 restaurants, food trucks and bars will be doing pay-as-you-go food. There will be beer and other adult and non-alcoholic drinks available.
You like shopping? There’s over a hundred vendors selling handmade items. The festival has everything. Get there and enjoy a glorious afternoon before winning a Kentucky Derby bet and watching the 76ers win.
And when need to take a seat, stop into O’Neals Irish Pub is home to most of the Jawnville podcasts…when we do them.
