Time to Get Porchy…2018 West Philly Porchfest is Here!

Philly Beer Week is one reason the first week in June is one of the best weeks of the calendar year. West Philly Porchfest is the other reason. If you haven’t been to the previous two West Philly Porchfests, you missed two amazing days. Luckily, you have a chance to make up for it and attend this Third Annual this Saturday.

What is Porchfest? It’s a DIY music festival featuring a diverse group of, what feels like at least a hundred, musical acts performing sets on porches throughout West Philly.

Acts this year include a gutter-folk band named Driftwood Soldier, jazz music from the 20’s & 30’s from Bitters & Rye, AquaSoul Soundsystem & Friends, a 25+ person choir by the name of Francis De Sales Choir, a black metal band called Morkskog, a high school ensemble called Poppin’ Off Brass Band, Philadelphia’s premiere Star Wars brass band called Wookiedelphia, and tons more.

Basically, if you like music, festivals, and block parties, this is your dream event.

Load up a backpack, bring some beers if you like (plastic cups or koozies, too), sun block, water and you should be ready to go. Porchfest is rain or shine and there is a chance of thunderstorms so maybe an umbrella or raincoat too. Don’t let a storm or two stop you from enjoying one of the best music fests you’ll ever encounter.

Bands play from Noon to 6:00 p.m. It’s totally kid friendly. One more thing…IT’S FREE!!
