Some Eagles Fans Stuck in the Past

What is going on? Why are some Eagles fans stuck in the past? Do they short-term memories? Did I go through a sleep-induced time travel and wake up on January 1st, 2018 again? Remember that day? It was New Years. Some of us went to the Mummers Parade. Some of us waited to party on 2 Street. And, some of us were obsessing over the play of Nick Foles vs. the Raiders a week earlier and saying how much better Nate Sudfeld looked on New Years Eve against the Cowboys throwing only 4 incompletions. You know the folks. They were calling for Sudfeld over Foles in the Playoffs. Today feels like

Here we are, six months removed from Nick Foles leading the Eagles to the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory and winning the Super Bowl MVP, and some people are calling for Sudfeld in week one if Wentz isn’t ready. Why? Because Nick Foles has looked bad in 3 meaningless quarters of pre-season football.

Have these people learned nothing?

Starters are missing. Foles hasn’t had a ton of reps due to injuries. It’s PRESEASON. Frank Reich is gone. Big V will not be starting. Alshon isn’t playing.

Things take time. Nick Foles and the starting offense have two weeks to get things together, just as they did going into the Playoffs last year. And, from what history has shown us, we have no reason to doubt them because of a few quarters in preseason.

I couldn’t care less what the offense looked like in the preseason. I trust in Doug and the starters to show up in two weeks on a Thursday and beat the Falcons with Carson Wentz or Nick Foles. And so should you. They proved the naysayers wrong once before. They’ll do it again.

In the meantime, bask in the glow of a badass Cy-Young worthy performance of stud pitcher Aaron Nola. Dude faced Bryce Harper in the 8th inning with runners on 1st and 2nd and struck Harper out. In fact, Harper was 0-4 on the day with two strikeouts and left three men on base. #Beastmode.

Enjoy the last days of summer and trust in Doug. And remember, Big Dick Nick won’t let us down.
