Greatest Bryce Harper Rant Ever

Jamie Lynch, producer of 97.5 The Fanatic’s Morning Show with Marc Farzetta and Tra Thomas has been obsessed with the entire Bryce Harper/Phillies saga since the free agency began on November 3rd, 2018. He tweeted at Bryce, pedaled conspiracy theories about video game releases, and may have even tweeted at Bryce’s wife Kayla. Saying Jamie was excited at the news of Harper’s signing doesn’t do him justice. Saying that he gave the greatest Bryce Harper rant ever this weekend, however, does do him justice.

Jamie hosted a show Sunday morning. Luckily, I caught the tail end of it. The show, predictably, was filled with high-energy and positivity over the Harper signing and the Harper press conference.

Then came a call from Brian (Bryan?) from Paoli labeled as a buzzkill. Brian started the call saying he was not a buzzkill and supported the Harper signing, but had a problem with Jamie.

Brian: My problem is you dude.

Jamie: Oh yeah? What did I do.

Brian: Dude, I have never in my life, heard a man gush over another man the way I’m hearing you.

Jamie: Damn, right…..

The beauty of Jamie, who is a friend of mine, is that he’s a diehard Philly sports fan and wears his emotions on his sleeve. That also makes great radio and that’s exactly what followed.

Brian: Did you bring a change of underwear with you because you’re going to need them?

Jamie: I actually put Depends on before the show because I’m soiling myself all day long.

Brian: You gonna tell us how great he picks his nose too [Jamie was describing watching a live stream from Clearwater showing Bryce stretching earlier in the show]

Jamie: You should see the form on the nose-picking, it’s beautiful.

Brian gave Jamie a “I’m from Missouri, Daddy, show me” and “you’re like a ten-year-old[?] that went to her first Backstreet Boys concert” and unleashed an amazing, entertaining, and hysterical Jamie rant that encapsulated the passion and energy many of us in the Delaware Valley feel after the Harper signing. And, it also happened to be the best moment of unbridled emotion that I’ve heard on sports radio in quite some time.

Jamie is really evolving into one of the freshest and entertaining voices in sports talk radio. By the way, some of his first on-air work may have been co-hosting the first six or so episodes of the Jawnville (drunken) podcast so I may be biased.

The rant this weekend is some of his best work. It’s radio gold. Give it a listen.
