Interesting Memorial In South Philly

Took the dogs out for a nice Sunday morning walk in South Philly at one of our favorite parks, FDR. While walking along the section that runs parallel to I-95, we noticed a cross protruding from the ground near the base of a tree. It looked to be a memorial so we walked closer for a look.

I think the memorial is for something or someone named Tubbs since Tubbs is written on the middle of the cross.

The plot/memorial area isn’t quite that large an area so I’m thinking a small dog or an aggressive guinea pig/hamster type. “Chapo,” which appears in the strange terms of endearment printed on the wooden cross also means small.

You know how most memorials have loving words about the deceased? This one didn’t quite fit that mold. The farewell words on the wooden cross seem like a roast than a tribute.

“Chapo we had
lots of good
times with you
“miting” or “biting” me!!
Sad you won’t
be able to do
it anymore.
See you in hell (heart).”

“R.I.P. El Chapo
You loved a good
coochie you are
the spawn of satan (heart).”

“Hope you bite
many people in
hell (heart) ILY”

“R.I.P. Devil”

Tubbs was apparently really into coochie and biting. While they sound like a lot of fun, I’m kind of glad I never crossed paths with good old Tubbs.
