Weekend Picks: 4-10-15

Hopefully this is the arrival of Spring for real this weekend. There is a ton of stuff going on. Here are our insider picks for the best of the best:

FRIDAY:

Waheed Works debuts their latest evening-length work, Botch. Choreographed by Philly’s own Tommie-Waheed Evans, who was an impressive member of PHILADANCO!, so this has to be legit. Supposed to incorporate modern, jazz and ballet techniques. This is at the Painted Bride, which is a great place to see shows. Here is some of Tommie’s work:

MARC MARON hosts WTF, which has to be the most popular podcast on the planet, for good reason. Marc is a wise and funny dude. He’s at the Trocadero Friday night. Check him out. The show is sold out, but tickets on the secondary market can always be had.

This entire weekend is CINEADELPHIA by our friends at PhilaMOCA. Great film events are going on throughout the weekend, and rest of the week. Saturday there is an anniversary screening of Rock School with director Don Argott and documentary subjects in attendance plus post-screening live sets from School of Rock students!
