Vacation Week

Figures, I tag along with the lady to a work conference in Hawaii and the Eagles beat the Patriots in Foxboro and Hinkie gets neutered.

The Eagles have a pulse! Huge step forward than past three games. While they did beat the Patriots JV offense, they still beat Belichick and Tom Brady. Sunday was the first game this year where the Eagles looked to have the better receiving group. Patriots receivers dropped balls all over the field and ran the wrong routes. Belichick had brain farts. Whatever, the Eagles took it to them on the road.

And…NBC flexed them for next week’s Sunday Night Football? Did NBC realize that Gronk wasn’t playing?

The Sixers hire Jerry Colangelo as Chairman of Basketball Operations? Love this move. Colangelo is a basketball lifer and four time NBA Executive of the Year. He hasn’t won a title, but dude knows hoops. He’s got a crotchety old man vibe that I like about him.

This is basically Sixers ownership not trusting Hinkie’s process blindly any longer. That’s to be expected. Hinkie hasn’t found a “diamond in the rough” yet. Sure, he’s got nice bench players on a good team, but that’s it. Colangelo’s experience and hoops intellect is the perfect compliment to Hinkie’s analytical ways. Analytics gets one only so far, especially in hoops.

Also, I think this definitely substantiates the claims that agents don’t like dealing with Hinkie. This upcoming draft and next couple free agent years are going to be huge for the Sixers with all the cap space they’ll have. They can’t risk losing out on players because agents don’t like Hinkie. Colangelo solves that problem. He’s a respect NBA front office guy.

Now…back to sitting by the beach and watching Villanova in the Pearl Harbor Invitational. Go Nova…only cause I bet them!
