Get Yer Nerd On…Philly’s Quizzo Bowl

It’s Bowl season, the Super Bowl and Philly’s own Quizzo Bowl. 

qbpromoQuizzo Bowl, in its twelfth year, is the brainchild of local quizz-master Johnny Goodtimes. Goodtimes does a circuit of weekly pub quizzos culminating in this annual battle of the dorks, where teams from across the city and country get to compete against each other in useless knowledge. Yes, people have flown in from as far as Denver to compete. A Jeopardy champion or two have been known to compete on teams.

I’ve been to the past several Quizzo Bowls and it’s a fun night of terribly bad, but great skits and jokes, solid musical entertainment, and several rounds of quizzo mixed in between.

Play Trivial Pursuit? Play pub quizzo? This jawn is the Mt. Everest of quizzo and trivia.

I’ll be there getting my nerd on with my crew of bookworm buddies. If you think you have what it takes, put together a team and see what you’re made of. There’s a cash prize for the top team. Don’t have any friends? No worries. Mr. Goodtimes will put free agents on teams that need players.

Philly rock legend Ken Kweder is the musical entertainment and has promised to do a Bowie set.

Oh, there’s also booze and drink specials.

Quizzo Bowl takes place Saturday Feb. 7th at World Cafe Live at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available here.
