Phillies Opening Day 2018 in Pictures

Ah, Opening Day 2018 at Citizens Bank Park. Baseball season is here and thus begins six days of ballgames as well as beer and dog consumption. How was this year’s Opening Day? Just splendid. For your viewing pleasure, we bring you the sights of the 2018 Phillies Home Opener.

We tried to get there on time to boo Gabe Kapler, not because he’s a terrible hire but because he needs a reality check and reminder that us phans are paying attention. At 2:25 the gates were jammed and not moving quickly at all.

This lady had her Opening Day pants on. These things should be mandatory. I may grab a pair for next year.

Home Game #1 and the Barvarian Pretzel warmer that was being used to warm pretzel twists from Federal Pretzels wasn’t work. Those twists may have been frozen with the winds up at the concourse level.

The Phillies have completely revamped the kids zone. There’s an ice cream parlor area, a wiffle field in a mini stadium with turf, but the highlights had to be the hot dog launcher target game.

The other highlight was this wall-climbing activity where the kids scale replica Philly buildings.

Ashburn Alley has some new seating with televisions where the Wall of Fame used to be.

The have a Spiked Seltzer stand out there too.

Ashburn Alley itself was a shit show of congestion and bottlenecks.

P.J. Whelihan’s is new. They’re serving wings. Are their wings that good?

The Wall of Fame is behind Left Field with new, large number sculptures featuring numbers of some of the players on the Wall, as well as replicas of the two World Series trophies.

Bull’s BBQ has been downsized and placed back where the Smoking Section used to be near the left field foul pole. There’s not much BBQing going on.We didn’t see any turkey legs, but they do have sandwiched.

In case you’re looking for treats….there out in the same area as Bull’s. There’s also a cold-looking person looking all lonely.

In case you’re wondering what “treats” are…here’s the menu.

Federal Donuts also looks to have downsized. They are on the size of where they used to be.

Need a cap? You’re in luck. They have a “CAP SHOP” in the concourse down the third base side.

Need a Phillies hat for hunting? The CAP SHOP has you, with RealTree AP. How about that!

Need a cocktail?Always good to seeing Afroman in the house.

Wanna see an Orioles fan in a free Phillies knit hat? That’s what we do, make dreams come true. Sweet poncho in the back, too!

Crazy vendor of the day goes to #54. Shorts? It was damn cold in the shade and on the concourse. Total maniac here.

Finally, I think we found a buyer for that orange hunting Phillies hat. Doesn’t the pink give the camouflage away?
