Sixers 2018-19 Home Opener

Philly sports fans get it. They’re smart sports fans. That was evident at the Sixers 2018-19 Home Opener.

Sixers fans know that Markelle Fultz’s success will determine the success of the team. As he goes, so shall they this season. He’s had the yips. He’s had his struggles, yet the fans rallied behind him.

Not a boo was heard during his introduction.

The only time Markelle heard any boos was when he didn’t shoot. He even heard cheers on missed three’s. The fans clearly let Fultz know last night that they are willing to be patient with him and he need not worry about missing shots. As long as he’s aggressive, the fans are going to be with him. Hopefully, it’s a confidence boost. The shots will fall eventually…we hope.

Other notes from last night:

We may be smart sports fans, but we’re not always the most respectful. The Sixers had a short moment of silence for Paul Allen, recently deceased owner of the Portland Trailblazers. About four seconds into the moment of silence, a guy in our section says this loudly:

Meek Mill rang the bell.

If you’re going to wear a basketball jersey, you gotta go base layer. Jersey over skin if you’re not on the court and it’s not summer time is a VIOLATION.

This is a sign you may have had too much to drink at a sporting event. The popcorn stayed with the guy all night.
