Markelle Fultz Thinks It’s Funny
The weather was great yesterday and the 76ers stunk. The 76ers got smoked by the Brooklyn Nets 122-97. Again, the 76ers lost to the Brooklyn Nets 122-97. They committed 28 turnovers and have yet to win a game on the road this year.
I don’t know how any 76ers player, coach, front office employee or fan could find humor in the pathetic display yesterday at the Barclays Center. In particular, how could a starting guard who put up 9 points and ZERO assists in 25 minutes and shot a three-pointer that bricked off the backboard, completely missing the rim, find anything funny.
The instagram account of houseofhighlights, with over 10 million followers, tweeted out video of Fultz’s brick with the caption: “When you shoot your shot but she’s out of your league.”
An hour after the loss, Markelle Fultz took to instagram, watched the video of his horrid show, and responded with the crying laughing emoji.
What’s he supposed to post, right? He just got humiliated in front of houseofhighlights 10 million followers. I guess he’s trying to play it cool. But the crying laughing emoji does nothing positive. It only exacerbates a bad situation where his confidence is clearly an issue and opens him up to a ton of negative replies. And, there’s absolutely nothing funny about the video.
Here’s something that definitely not funny for 76ers fans who suffered through The Process. To date, Fultz has made $7,026,240 in 2017 and, to date, $1,118,764.35 in 2018. That’s $8,145,004.35 and he’s made a total of 4 3-pointers at the guard position. 4! That’s $2,036,251.09/per 3-pointer. No wonder the kid thinks his ugly misses are funny. For comparison purposes, remember everyone who said Lonzo Ball’s shot wouldn’t translate to the NBA. He’s made 109 3-pointers and is shooting over 40% from 3 this year on 46 attempts.
Sure, the same could be said about Ben Simmons’ game, but he wasn’t brought here to shoot. Markelle Fultz was. I’m glad he finds his inability to shoot amusing. He’s got a real weird sense of humor.
