A Prayer for the 2019 76ers Season

I don’t remember a more frustrating Phillies and Eagles season than this year. Both teams had high expectations that neither team came close to fulfilling. Mentally, I can’t handle the 76ers following suit. With that in mind, and drawing upon my Catholic School upbringing, I offer this prayer for the 76ers 2019-20 season.

Please Basketball Gods,

Allow our 76ers to pull us out from the dysfunction of the Phillies and Eagles,

Give our Sixers the strength and tenacity to render the rest of the league feeble,

and lead our players away from the temptations of evil.

Grant to us O’ Basketball Gods the long-awaited access,

to the fruits and rewards of a grueling and trusted process.

Give to us a season where owners do not fire assistant coaches,

and keep us free from back-stabbing leaks to the press so the team stays focused.

Please forgive us for the sins of Colangelo and Hinkie,

and keep Jo away from Shirley Temples and Twinkies.

Please grant to us a dominant defense with bounties of blocks, rebounds, and steals,

but most of all, please protect our Sixers’ knees, ankles, and heels.

Lastly, we ask for the skill, luck, and health to make the process complete,

so we can see the Sixers drive the Larry O’Brien Trophy down Broad Street.
