Philly Music Fest Helping Local Musicians with MicroGrants!
In times like these, we all need stories of people helping people. This is one of those.
Philly Music Fest is a local music festival, which takes place over a weekend every September. They raise money over the Festival weekend and normally donate that money to music-education non-profits throughout the area.
Now, Philly Music Fest has kicked up it’s fundraising efforts to help local musicians and those working at independent music venues in the area survive during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has financially decimated local music scenes everywhere.
Philly Music Fest is offering microgrants in the sum of $250. In true form, the Philly Music Fest is doing things DIY. There are no forms to fill out or webpages to sign up at. You simply have to email the founder of Philly Music Fest, Greg Seltzer, at gregseltzer@gmail.com or DM Philly Music Fest on Instagram and let them know what you were doing before the shutdown, your current situation, and how $250 would assist you.
The original Instagram post and information is below:
Spread the word to any and all musicians you know who could use $250 right now.
If you’d like to donate to the cause and directly support the local music scene, you can donate via the Philly Music Fest homepage (just click on the orange donate button) or via Venmo @JennSeltzer.
Kudos to Philly Music Fest for their generous work and ongoing support of Philly’s local music scene. Keep an eye out for info on the upcoming festival this September.
