People Worldwide Eat Celebratory “Cheesesteaks” to Honor Philly Area

The AP and other news outlets called the 2020 Presidential election on Saturday in favor of Joe Biden. Subsequently, 74 million voters celebrated in the streets after news broke. This was a corner near me as I walked my dog.

As celebrations rang out, people wanted to celebrate throughout the weekend with food. Philly and surrounding burbs played a vital role in Biden’s victory so what do you think people around the world were eating? PHILLY CHEESESTEAKS.

Local chef, Jennifer “Fear” Zavala, the chef who received death threats for making vegan meatballs and was a great guest on The Philly Blunt Podcast that you should listen to immediately if you haven’t already, posted on social media about the ugly celebratory cheesesteaks that she saw on Twitter.

I checked Twitter out to see for myself and it’s true. Even Fake Donald got involved. Here are some of the celebratory cheesesteaks out there. The OK, the bad, and the mostly ugly. They are mostly sad-looking sandwiches with good intentions.

THE OK

Come on sleeves, no fruit with your cheesesteaks.

Not bad for a first-timer here, but it looks a little too bougie with the angled cut and baguette looking bread.

However, Linda’s angled-cut works because of the nice soft roll choice. Working-class roll cuts down on the bougie-ness above.

THE BAD

Hey Ella…you’re gonna need some cheese for your cheesesteak.

Jae’s onion rings look spot on, but cut back on all the greens on that sandwich. Is that bell peppers?

Sarah killing it with celebratory coordinated drinks, but this looks more like a rib-eye steak sandwich from a place called Hoss’ instead of Philly.

Too chunky.

Natalie struggling here with a toasted roll. Is that cheese or Thousand Island salad dressing?

This looks to be the controversial cheesesteak “hoagie” with the appearance of shredded lettuce. I like the hoagie version but get the backlash.

From Portugal

From Melbourne

Whoa…whoa…whoa…lighten up on the cheese Willy.

THE WORST

NO! Just no with the lettuce wrap, but we like the enthusiasm and the Bob Ross throwback hair from Nathaniel.

Jennifer looks to have placed a salad bar on top of her cheesesteak.

Pita Grille should stick to pitas, but you’re welcome.

THE WORST OF THE WORST

Bob…What the heck is going on here? Is that corned beef? The cheese? Where do we start? It’s about three inches too thick. Next time try to melt the cheese a bit. You’ll like the sandwich far better. All about the Peace Tea, though.

If you’re bored, give Twitter a search for Philly and cheesesteak.
